Event Overview

Microsoft’s Application Platform which consists of our database, integration, and development technologies. The focus of the morning will be on the business benefits of the Microsoft Application Platform with case studies and examples from Irish and international customers. The morning session is predominantly aimed at IT Managers, Development Managers and Department Heads.


Welcome and Introduction: This session will feature an overview of Microsoft’s Application Platform covering SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio 2005, BizTalk Server 2006 and our Business Intelligence solutions.

Upgrading or Migrating to SQL Server 2005: The aim of this session is to show how SQL Server 2005 can offer you high security, performance, scalability and availability at an affordable price. We will examine the benefits of migrating from Oracle or IBM DB2 to SQL 2005, as well how to execute this. We will also take a look at the benefits of upgrading from SQL 2000 to 2005 and the best way to achieve this.

Development and the Microsoft Application Platform: This session will show you how Microsoft’s Application Platform and in particular Visual Studio 2005 offers the best integrated software development platform to manage the application life cycle, increase team collaboration and productivity and improve software quality.

Integration and Reporting with Microsoft’s Application Platform: In this session we will be looking are SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services. SSIS has been rewritten in SQL Server 2005 to perform complex data integration, transformation, and synthesis at high speed for very large data volumes. Reporting Services is an enterprise-managed reporting environment, embedded and managed through Web services. Reports can be personalized and delivered in a variety of formats, with a range of interactivity and printing options. Complex analyses can reach a broad audience through the distribution of reports as a data source for downstream BI.
