Can lightening Kill us?

Thunderstorm

A few days back there was news of twelve people dead after struck by lightening. At least it is not in one particular location, but spread across the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is very sad news for the families, near and dear. But the question is can lightening really kill us? Of Course it can… Lightening is nothing but an atmospheric electrostatic discharge which can travel at speeds of 220,000 km/h.

A few weeks back I was watching an YouTube video (See below) when a man was hit by lightening twice and still gets up and walks away. Lightnings when in the earths atmosphere, its temperature can reach about 30,000 °C. The person in the video might have had some kind of resistance towards to electric and magnetic energy. Anyway i can’t imagine myself there.
