Restoring lost admin access to WordPress Blog

This video will show you how to restore lost admin access to your WordPress blog.

Follow these steps:

  1. Login to your Hosting Control Panel.
  2. Launch the database Administration tools (i am using phpMyadmin).
  3. Select the Database your WordPress blog is installed on.
  4. Select the Table “wp_usermeta” to edit it. (wp is a prefix, you might have used a different prefix).
  5. Click browse to view the fields and the data in them.
  6. Search for the Admin User, you want to restore the access.
  7. You should be able to find a filed named “wp_capabilities” just below the user nickname field.
  8. Click Edit.
  9. In the text box replace the existing text with a:1:{s:13:”administrator”;b:1;}
  10. Click Save.
  11. Log out of your database admin tool.
  12. Now your Admin access should be restored.
